Speaking Through Disappointments

Oftentimes, we become so focused on something or someone that we are unable to hear the Lord at all. In those times, one of God's most effective and yet painful ways to get our attention is through disappointments. Oh, how we dislike this method!

This is the way God spoke dramatically to the nation of Israel. In Numbers 14, He directed His people into the Promised Land. However, they were scared of the inhabitants, so they refused to enter. As a result, the Lord told the Israelites they'd "by no means see the land" for 40 years, until after that generation had died (v. 23).

Their disappointment was so great that they decided to change their minds. Sadly, though, it was too late; God had already settled the issue. And the people were distraught with grief because of what they had missed. At that moment, in the heart of their disappointment, do you think God had their attention? Absolutely. The next time He gave Israel a command, don't you think they listened a bit more intently?

Tragically, failure is rather common in such situations. Instead of looking to God when disappointments occur, we are quick to blame circumstances, other people, fate, or even the Devil. We are hesitant to believe that our loving Father could be responsible for our frustrations. Yet God is perfectly willing to use disappointments to realign our thoughts with His. Consider the difficulties in your life--might the Lord have been trying to say something in the midst of them?

Long Week End

It's a long week end, hurrah ! Too bad, work needs to be done but yet, after lazing ard for 2 days, it's time to really get things going if this is to be a productive week end. At least after close to 2 mths alrdy, i'm starting to get the hang of things but of course, time never seem enough anymore in terms of leisure especially. However, there is still much to give thanks for despite having to juggle work and 2 ministries. The friends i've made in school and the support from close friends, it's been a blessing though sometimes it's always so easy to complain abt every single thing that i cant see eye to eye with, haha. Life is all about learning to be more Christlike and be contented with what God has already bless us abundantly with.

Enjoy yourself my readers and have a blessed rest this holiday, may the Lord refresh your spirit as you enjoy a time of rest in his presence.

Jer 15:19

Therefore this is what the LORD says:
"If you repent, I will restore you
that you may serve me;
if you utter worthy, not worthless, words,
you will be my spokesman.
Let this people turn to you,
but you must not turn to them

Love

"God's best and highest will is for us to love (value) Him with all our hearts, and to love (value) others as ourselves. Do you realize you have everything you need to fulfill God's will and experience His best in your life?" - Gary and Norma Smalley

Faith

Faith is homesickness. Faith is a lump in the throat. Faith is less a position on than a movement toward, less a sure thing than a hunch. Faith is waiting. Faith is journeying through space and time.

So if someone (and this frequently happens) were to come up and ask me to talk about my faith, it's exactly that journey through space and time I'd have to talk about. The ups and downs of the years, the dreams, the odd moment, the intuitions. I'd have to talk about the occasional sense I have that life isn't just a series of events causing other events as haphazardly as a break shot in pool causes billiard balls to go off in many directions, but that life has a plot the way a novel has a plot - that events are somehow leading somewhere
